Investment in Public Infrastructure Has Been Declining as a Percentage of GDP

Line graph showing total investments in public infrastructure by all orders of government declining as a percentage of gross domestic product between 1962 and 2003. The high was around 2.75 per cent in 1962 and the low was around 1.0 per cent in 1998. In 2003, the investment level was 1.4 per cent.

Note: Infrastructure is defined as fixed non-residential building and engineering of federal, provincial, territorial and local public administrations.
