Iconic St. Stephen wharf to be restored

New Brunswick Premier, the Honourable Brian Gallant, Karen Ludwig, Member of Parliament for New Brunswick Southwest, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and Allan MacEachern, Mayor of St. Stephen, announced over $1.1 million funding to restore an important tourist attraction and gathering place in St. Stephen.

Every New Brunswick community to benefit from federal Gas Tax Fund transfer

Modern and up-to-date community infrastructure helps connect people to jobs and provides access to better community services, attracts new businesses and creates economic growth.

This month, the Government of Canada delivered the first of two annual $22 million federal Gas Tax Fund (GTF) installments to New Brunswick. In total, the province will be provided with over $45 million this year through the fund. From that, over $35.8 million will be distributed to local governments on a per capita basis while the rest will be allocated in unincorporated areas. The funding, which flows through the provincial government, is now available to support community infrastructure projects.
