Peter Braid was first elected to the House of Commons in 2008 and was re-elected in 2011. He was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure and Communities in September 2013.

Mr. Braid has previously served as Vice-Chair of the Government Operations and Estimates Committee and as a member of the Industry Committee.

Mr. Braid's background includes experience in business, government and the community. He was a Director of Operations at Sun Life Financial. He also served in the constituency office of former MP Walter McLean, and worked at the Immigration and Refugee Board.

Mr. Braid and his wife Annette have two daughters, Tamara and Alexandra.
